Solar Electricity, or photovoltaic electricty, is electricty that is generated by the sun using photovoltaic (PV) solar cells that create a direct current (DC) voltage.
Several PV solar cells may be connected inside of solar cell modules. These solar cell modules are often wired together to form solar arrays.
Photovoltaic electricy is dependant on the sun, however the electricity produced may be stored in batteries to be used during times when the sun is not shining. Inverters are used to convert the DC electricty created by the photovoltaic solar cells into alternating current (AC) which is most used in homes and businesses.
